Scuba Club Cozumel waterfront. looks like a war zone. Actually they have already started bringing in sand to replace the beach.
After several days of repair. Most of the sand is back. sidewalks poured, palapas rebuilt and waiting for thatching. Even beach chairs replaced.
Right off the Scuba Club beach. Note all the purple algae covering the concrete rubble.
Here is the pier. Underwater just off the resort.
Typical hurricane damage. Note the extensive safety barrier. I hope that tree is strong!
The damaged cruise ship pier. Note gutted buildings in background.
This is what the shallowest parts of the reefs look like now. not the "furry" coating of pinkish algae.
This nurse shark seems to be enjoying one of the newly created swimthroughs.
Not all the coral and sponges were damaged and stripped.
There were still plenty of turtles around.
And of course spiny lobsters
